Bras and other lingerie items for young women

Bras and other lingerie items for young women

When and what lingerie to wear and when to go braless?

Outside school I do not wear a bra most of time. I wear tank tops and T-shirts and think it is really cool because I have a good body. My girlfriends think I'm really brave to do it and my mom doesn't like it with tight tops because it is so obvious. She thinks my 36C size is too big even though she is happy to do it with her 34B and she is 38 years old!! But think like Emma Thompson, who says, "I'm not a great fan of underwear, I think it's quite constraining."

I agree; it does grab attention of the guys but this is my body so if they are good why not flaunt them like women do with their hair, make-up, and clothes they choose to wear. I think it is so naïve when women say that guys will like us only for our bodies. Of course that is important to them but there is much more to us than just our bodies. In my opinion, boys might get attracted if we do something bold like that but that does not help us a lot if we want to conquer them in the long run.

This is the time and age to be bold - when we are firm and look really cool doing it. It's not as if we go crazy; actually I think it is better to maintain both some mystery and boldness!! That is exactly what Drew Barrymore did at the Golden Globes. (Related article: Story of a woman who found happiness even when she had a small chest)

I always notice other women and how they dress, particularly if they wear tight tops. I think they look nicer if they do not show their bra straps under a spaghetti top. My mom does not approve of me being sloppy and show straps like some of my girlfriends do. This fashion of virtually letting your bra and the straps showing drives our elders nuts but even I do not approve of it since many girls look so sloppy doing it. I would say that do what Kirsten Dunst does. Many "analysts" suspect that she does not wear a bra underneath her T-shirts, but she still looks pretty cool about it. Lindsay Lohan too has been spotted sans bra. So my advice to all those girls who want to wear tank tops and spaghetti straps is this – just leave your bra at home. Alternatively you can try using a low-cut bra rather than showing the straps. And if you wear a white blouse to school as I do, just do nothing but wear a black bra and notice the heads turning.

When it comes to giving a peek at your underwear to create some interest in others, I would say show your panties instead because you can do it without making it so obvious by wearing low-rise pants. I prefer low riders that show my panties only if I move at a certain angle or bend. A little bit of black panty or thong is attractive and complements my look.

Japanese lingerie beauties

We have been researching fashion trends for over one year and have found that Japanese women have been the most adventurous and creative when it comes to selecting their lingerie. Not only are they willing to spend a lot more on a per capita basis, they also tend to be more open to trying something that would be considered too bold in other parts of the world. Similarly, Japanese designers dedicate enormous amount of resources in adding class and elegance to lingerie along with making it an attractive item of clothing. The outcome is not only just an underwear, but a piece of art.

Many of you would probably not be able to think of a Japanese brand as some of the other brands from Europe. However, among discerning women, Wacoal and Triumph are well respected brands. The most important role that Japanese fashion has played is in its influence on design rather than penetration of Japanese brands themselves. As all female readers will be able to testify, lingerie design has to take into consideration not only local preferences but also typical body shapes of women. Thus, Japanese-made lingerie will simply not be suitable for women in other parts, except say, in some Asian countries. (Related article: Japan inspired lingerie fashion)

So much is being talked about the kogals (kogyaru is another term used) from Japan, that the world is ignoring the emergence of the global phenomenon inspired by Japanese teenage girls. These girls that are spread out all over the world from Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, to Spain to Mexico to the United States are now drawing attention of their parents and friends who do not know what these girls are up to. While these gaijin kogals are a very small number, it would not be surprising to see their numbers multiply exponentially. After all, Hello Kitty is as popular outside Japan as it is in Japan. Isn’t she cute and wild? Well, so are the kogals? Can girls all over the world eventually connect with the kogal style and fashion? Well some of them are definitely attracted to elements of it while others have completely transformed their styles to match with that of the kogals. We recently spoke to some of these girls.

The influx of Japanese culture is not a new phenomenon. I recall seeing "weird" people clad in heavy dresses and hearing unfamiliar pronunciation on the television as a little girl. That was it though. These days, Japanese pop culture takes on a more dynamic and multi-dimensional form. The one thing that has remained unchanged is the way it lures unsuspecting people with its exoticness. Here in Singapore, the public gets most of its contact with the Japanese culture through the entertainment media. The days when Japanese music albums occupied only an obscure corner of the local music store are gone. It is no longer uncommon to see retailers devote a good-sized floor area to what is the fastest-growing music type here. We count artistes such as Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki, Aikawa Nanase, SMAP, Glay, L'arc-en-Ciel and the now-defunct Speed as some of the hottest-selling stars and, not surprisingly, the market is constantly introduced to young and new faces keen on making their marks in Asia.

How to measure your bra size?

Undress completely on the top.
Measure yourself in inches around the ribcage below your bust. (Data A)
Now measure yourself around the fullest part of your bust. (Data B)
Add 5 (for odd numbers) and 4 (for even numbers) onto the first measurement to get your bra size (in inches).
To find out the cup size, calculate the difference between data B and data and then use the chart below:

How to have firm, perky breasts?
Take good care of them
If women want to have a pair of firm, perky breasts and pay plastic surgeons thousands of dollars and lingerie designers hundreds of dollars to have them, there is a reason. Not only do women feel much better about them if they have a great looking cleavage; they also appear to become more popular among men.

A beautiful bust is in part a gift of Nature but also in part a result of the care that you take. Our breasts suffer from both environmental and internal conditions and as time passes the cumulative effect may result in flaccid and sagging breasts. There are little things, however, that we can do to protect our breasts.
The breast is formed of primarily fat, breast tissue and the pectoral muscle, which gives it support. For these reasons, there are no exercises that can make your breasts grow larger or get firmer. Because we tend to accumulate fat in the breasts, it grows in size if we gain weight and it goes down in size if we lose weight. The breast is surrounded by skin. This skin is our natural bra. Maintaining elasticity and general health of this skin will make our breasts look better. (Related: Increase breast size through diet and exercise)

Body size changes, in other words, weight fluctuations should be avoided at all costs. These are the worst enemies of the breasts. The breast size fluctuates during our lifetime because of hormonal changes, pregnancy or breast-feeding and gaining and losing weight can be disastrous on how women look. Although hormonal changes are almost impossible to avoid, the weight changes can be avoided or at least minimized.
